Greyhounds As Pets

Greyhounds are not for everyone. But if you like to go for a jog or slow bike rides, a greyhound would be a good companion. They can not go for miles when you first get one, but they can work up to it. If you like vegetating on the couch watching TV or playing on the computer, a greyhound would be great for you. Of course, you will have to have a couch big enough for both of you. Greyhounds are not guard dogs. Very seldom do they bark. Someone broke into our garage while we were alseep and took a bunch of tools. We found out about it when my parents went to go to work. So, what good is a greyhound for a pet, you ask. Well, just look into those big brown eyes and you will see the most loving and caring heart of anyone around. They will love you unconditionally and will ask for nothing in return. If you get a bad test score on a test at school, a greyhound will still love you. Some greyhounds will even wag their tails when you come home. Greyhounds love to sleep with you, you'll just have to get another pillow or do what I did, get a bigger bed. Greyhounds keep you warm on a cold night. Some greyhounds can even smile at you. Greyhounds can run faster than any other dog, but you will need to keep them on a no-slip collar and leash, or in a fenced yard. A greyhound teaches you to take care of someone other than yourself. They are completely dependant on you. They do not know about cars and streets. Their lives depend on you. You need to make sure that they do not get out. They can see better than we can, up to half a mile away, and if there is a squirrel or rabbit, they will go after it. Greyhounds have the figure that I wish I had. They are long and sleek and muscular. They don't have any body fat or much hair, so they have to be an inside pet. They do not do well in the heat or cold. They don't mind staying in a crate while you are gone because they grew up in crates on the tracks. I like to leave the tv or radio on for them while I'm gone so they won't be lonely. Some of them like to tear things up while you're gone, like your mom's couch, so crates are a great solution. My greyhound loves the tupperware cupboard. It is so fun to throw that stuff around while everyone is gone. I didn't know that we had so much of that stuff, and now my dad is happy because I had to throw a bunch of it away! Doesn't this sound like a fun pet?
